“Toward a Smarter World through Digitalization” - Kyocera participates in CEATEC 2020 online

At the digital trade show, Kyocera presented the latest products and solutions for a Covid-19 world.

Kyoto/London - Kyocera Corporation exhibited at "CEATEC 2020 Online" from October 20th until 23rd, 2020. CEATEC 2020 was focused on the "New Normal Society 5.0" covering all industries, featuring a variety of advanced technologies for the society of the future, including CPS/IoT, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Under the theme of "Toward a Smarter World through Digitalization" Kyocera introduced its latest products and solutions contributing to a new normal society in four categories: "Mobility", "5G / IoT", "Smart Manufacturing" and "Energy Solutions". The online archives are open for users to view until the end of the year.

CATEGORY 1: MOBILITY

Kyocera's latest technologies and products contributing to the realization of a safe and comfortable mobility society and automated driving for the MaaS era.

Kyocera Concept Car II “Moeye”
Futuristic concept car that uses optical camouflage technology to make parts of the cockpit transparent. The car is equipped with several of Kyocera's original devices to enhance the automotive experience. The car's interior is designed with an emphasis toward elegance and comfort.

Multifunctional Millimeter-Wave Radar
Kyocera as developed a single device which can detect multiple objects with different distances and directions. In addition to contributing to safer driving support systems and autonomous driving, we aim to expand into new fields such as medical and healthcare to further utilize this technology to contribute to the new normal society.

Kyocera also demonstrates other products including an intelligent RSU (V2I Road Side Unit).

CATEGORY 2: 5G/INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT)

Products and solutions related to Kyocera's IoT network technologies supporting a more convenient and prosperous society.

5G-Smart-Router
Compact 5G router capable of connecting legacy devices to 5G via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, HDMI, or LAN. Also, with a conversion adapter, you can connect to HDMI, RS 232 C, and wired LAN ports for a variety of applications. The router takes advantage of 5G's high-speed, high-capacity, low-latency, and multi-connection capabilities. In addition, edge computing functions, which perform various data processing on the device side, are included with the device.

CONNECTING x DRONE

To meet growing demand for drone-based technologies in the future, Kyocera and Blue Innovation, Inc. have jointly developed a new solution that utilizes Kyocera's wireless communications technology for drone applications.

In addition, various IoT devices, a local 5G system, and a 5655 series floating board-to-board connector was on display.

CATEGORY 3: SMART MANUFACTURING

Kyocera’s devices and technologies contributing to the realization of Industry 4.0/Society 5.0 and digital transformation in the manufacturing industry.

Optical Flow Measurement Module
Compact optical flow module for measuring fluid. The use of an optical system enables non-contact, non-wetted liquid measurement and measurement of small flow rates and high-viscosity fluids. These modules also contribute to installation cost reduction and improved design flexibility when installing flow meters.

Other Products/Solutions
Kyocera also presented digital manufacturing solutions and an AI-powered collaborative robot system.

CATEGORY 4: ENERGY SOLUTIONS

Introducing several of Kyocera's energy solutions-related efforts toward realizing a low-carbon society and helping to promote renewable energy while combating climate change.

Odawara City Regional Microgrid Project
Kyocera is constructing regional microgrids utilizing renewable energy in Japan. This section introduces one project being undertaken in cooperation with partner companies and the local government in Odawara City in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. We aim to build a sustainable microgrid that will enable “locally produced and consumed, independent and decentralized energy” as well as strengthen the resilience of the region during natural disasters.
