Kyocera participating joint green innovation project aims for 40% energy saving at data centers by 2030

  • Corporate

Kyoto/London - KYOCERA Corporation together with Fujitsu Limited (the managing company), NEC Corporation, AIO Core Corporation, Kioxia Corporation, and Fujitsu Optical Components Limited has been selected for the "Green Innovation Fund Project/Construction of Next Generation Digital Infrastructure" project in the field of "Next Generation Green Data Center Technology Development" by Japan's New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

As the amount of data increases exponentially, we will jointly develop various technologies to promote energy saving, high capacity, and low delay in data centers to realize a carbon-neutral society. As a result, we aim to achieve 40% or more in energy saving by 2030 compared to conventional data centers at the commencement of research and development.

Through this technological development, Kyocera will help develop the world’s first photonic smart NIC* (Network Interface Cards) for next-generation green data centers and contribute to low power consumption in data center networks by seamlessly connecting data center equipment with photonic connections.

*A photonic smart NIC is a server element device that photonically converts a smart NIC equipped with a processor that shares processing related to communication.
